One of the great things about living in San Luis Obispo is the fresh food and restaurants. I’m lucky I get to work with MO’s Smokehouse BBQ. They were established more than 20 years ago and they serve up some of the best southern barbecue and hospitality west of the Mississippi.
Their meats are slow smoked for hours then put on the BBQ for the final touches. They also have their own original BBQ sauces – Original, Hot, Philthy Phil’s and Sweet Carolina. I tend to go for the sweet sauces, but I have to say I can slather on the Philthy Phil’s with its tangy, vinegary taste, like a pig rolling in the mud all day long! Try them all on the signature pulled pork sandwich or get the meat platter where you get ribs, pulled pork and chicken. You can order the sauces online at www.mosbbq.com. We are in the process of refreshing their website so stay tuned!
They have three restaurants – San Luis Obispo, Pismo Beach and Chico. They also serve up BBQ at the Thursday Night Farmer’s Market each week in SLO. They have salads, beans and breads (corn muffins and garlic bread) for those who don’t eat meat. MO’s features many local products, including local craft beers from Firestone (805 and DBA) and local wines. And, don’t forget the desserts! Anyone who carried Mud Pie is A-1 in my book.
