Yesterday, after some storage moving drama, I had lunch at Palo Mesa Pizza on lower Higuera Street. This is the first time that I have tried their fare. I knew they had a place up on the Nipomo Mesa for some time, but I don’t really have anything up that way to take me there. Well, am I glad they decided to open a place in SLO!
I ordered a pepperoni and black olive pizza. Of course, I also ordered and 805 beer and I am glad I did. The pepperoni on the the pizza was a bit spicy, but just a perfect balance with the creamy cheese. The best part though was the thick but crunchy crust. It reminded me of Chicago styled crust, but so much better! I would highly recommend this place and I know I will be going back to try everything else on the menu. In fact, they won an international contest in pizza making, can’t beat that.
