I am a native Californian, born and raised in Southern California. My father was military, so I practically grew up on a base. I loved the roar of the jets at night and I still get a thrill hearing and feeling the awesome power of those machines. Dad also was a sports fanatic and I inherited that gene. Nothing brings my childhood rushing back faster than hearing Vin Scully call a Dodger game. Not to leave Mom out, she loved movies, classic movies. And, I fell in love with them too. I think I’ve seen every MGM movie ever made. Mom took me to see “Gone With The Wind” on the Big Screen when I was 7 years old, God bless her! I am a good person to have on a Trivial Pursuit team.

Not surprising, after I graduated college, I worked as a film publicist and then as a marketing consultant on the Women’s Professional Tennis Tour and Major League Soccer Tampa Bay Mutiny. I have also worked at small marketing and public relations agencies in Los Angeles. I knew it was time to leave LA when it took me more than one hour to drive 9 miles to work. I moved to San Luis Obispo in 2002 to work for an environmental and automotive marketing company. I was pitching hybrid vehicles when nobody would listen. I guess they are listening now!

In 2003, I established Highway 101 Communications. I have brought the big branding ideas culled from working with Philip Morris USA, American Express, HBO, Chevron, Starbucks and other Fortune 500 companies and put them to work for small businesses on the Central Coast. And, with good results.

In 2010, I founded Get Off The Couch Potato Sports Productions, LLC, producing the Central Coast Cancer Challenge, the San Luis Obispo Marathon, Half Marathon + 5K and Giro Della Costa Centrale. These events created millions in economic impact and large funds for the charities we supported; I am most proud of those accomplishments.

I am starting a new chapter in my life and I am excited for the journey. I’d like you to come along, it would be an honor!!

Cheers!

Heather
